Dr. Louann Woodward. Associate Vice Chancellor & Professor of Medicine, the University of Mississippi Medical Center spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson On June 11, 2013. Her topic was UMMC, what we do and why it matters. Dr. Woodward discussed the fact that Mississippi is the lowest ranked state in many areas of health statistics, including areas of health outcomes and the number of physicians per capita. She described the new facility that  UMMC's School of Medicine is building on campus that it intended to increase the number of physicians graduated annually. According to Dr. Woodward, UMMC ranks well in retaining graduates in the state. The School of Medicine only accepts Mississippi residents  as medical students. In the following photos, Dr. Woodward is shown with Dr. Patrick Smith, also of the School of Medicine, who introduced her. In the other photo, she is shown with one of her slides during her talk.
