Prayer. O God, our help in ages past, our hope
for years to come, we invoke your blessings
upon us and your presence with us as we gath-
er to renew our friendship with each other and
our responsibility for the welfare of others..

We are not unmindful of common physical
needs, so accept our thanks for food to sus-
tain our bodies and fellowship to enrich our
relationships.

With praise and honor to your holy name.
Amen.

Weekly Rotary Foundation Thoughts:

  • This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about The Annual Programs Fund.
  • The Annual Programs Fund is the primary source of unrestricted support for the programs of the Rotary Foundation. It funds programs in more than 160 countries on seven continents. From digging clean water wells for villages in Africa to teaching basic literacy skill to children in Latin America, during any given moment in a day, thousands of Rotarians volunteer their time and expertise ensure that all contributions given to The Annual Programs Fund are spent wisely on quality Rotary projects.
  • Only if Every Rotarian makes a gift to the Annual Programs Fund Every Year, will we be able to continue to do the great work of our Rotary Foundation.

Sommelier Speaks to Rotary Club of North Jackson
Certified Sommelier and District Manager for Republic
National Distributing company Scott Davis spoke to
the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its February 2,
2016 meeting. The general topic of his presentation
was food and wine pairings. He brought two US wines,
a Pinot Noir and a Dry Riesling, to demonstrate his sub-
ject. He pointed out that a dry, buttery chardonnay
wine is an excellent wine for dairy and pasta dishes.
He also demonstrated that grapes and Granny Smith
apples are incompatible with the Riesling that he
brought. The accompanying photo shows Mr. Davis
