Prayer
Gracious God, from whose storehouse of abundant blessings we have generously receive and by whose love we are embraced, we offer the gratitude of our hearts and the labor of our hands. In the spirit of Labor Day's observance, we are thankful for the ability and opportunity to be workers, helping to make constructive differences in society. Bless all aspects of our meeting today. As we enjoy food and fellowship, we remember those less fortunate and all who seek to minister sympathetically to them. Amen.

Readers Needed
Our club members read to the 60 pre-K students at Walton Elementary School on Friday's at 11:30. It takes no more than 30 minutes to read several books to them. You can supply your own book or use one of the classroom's. If you would like to volunteer for this project, please see or contact Bill Osborn, we oe. You will not be disappointed but rewarded by the love of the students.

5th Tuesday Service Project
The service project for our club's 5th Tuesday will be Big House Books. Big House Books is a non-profit, volunteer organization that sends free books by request to prisoners in Mississippi correctional facilities in order to promote literacy and be a vehicle of change for prison reform. Instead of having our noon meeting on September 29th, we will meet at Big House Books located at 133 Millsaps Ave., Jackson, MS 39202. Donation of paperback books and monetary donations are welcomed.

August 25th Meeting
Shaquita Chapman, with the National Folk Festival, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson during its August 25, 2026, meeting. Chapman informed club members about the festival, ways to volunteer and the history of it. First presented in St. Louis in 1934, the National Folk Festival is the flagship event of the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA). The festival celebrates the roots, richness, and variety of American culture. Championed in its early years by Eleanor Roosevelt, it was the first event of national stature to present the artistic traditions of all Americans on equal footing. It was also the first to present to the public musical forms such as the blues, Cajun music, polka, Tex-Mex conjunto, Peking Opera, and many others. The festival will be held in Jackson November 13-15, 2026. Shown from left to right, Club President Suzy Tubb, Chapman and Club Secretary Bruce Deer.
