Make a New Year’s resolution to give

Schoolchildren in India have desks to sit at.

Women and children in Monrovia, Liberia,

are being saved from AIDS. And poor wo-

men in Esmeraldas, Ecuador, are starting
small businesses to provide for their families.

Club Announcements​​

  •      Billy Brumfield House. The Rotary Club of North Jackson
    is serving supper once a month at The Billy Brumfield House,
    a Stewpot Community Services ministry. Our club serves on
    the 1st  Tuesday of each month.  Interested members need
    to meet @ Baker Donelson located at the corner of
    Meadow    brook and the I-55 North Frontage Road
    @ 5:15 PM and then travel together to Billy Brumfield.
    Also, if you are interested in sponsoring a month, the est.
    cost is $180 for the food. Mike Dawkins is project chair and

  • Between the Lions. There is still time to sign up for our
    Between the Lions outreach program. We read weekly
    October - May to pre-Kindergarteners at William
    Walton Elementary School on Bailey Ave. Please
    consider signing up to read this year.  It is a wond-
    erful experience!     The children are truly information
    sponges and are very willing learners. Contact     Clinton

Weekly Rotary Foundation Thoughts:
This week's Rotary Foundation thought is about
"Polio Plus"

  • In 1985, Rotarians made a promise to
    the children of the world to eradicate
    polio. Since Polio Plus began, the num-
    ber of polio cases worldwide has de-
    clined by 99 percent, thanks largely
    to the efforts of Rotarians around the
    world.  Rotarians have committed near-
    ly US$650 million toward global polio
    eradication efforts. Already, five mil-
    lion children are walking who would
    have been paralyzed, and more than
    1.5 million lives have been saved.
    None of this would be possible if it
    weren’t for Rotary’s leadership and vis-
    ion.  
     
  • What a wonderful legacy we are leav-
    ing to the children of the world. Good-
    bye Polio. Thank you, Rotary!

William "Billy " Neville Speaks to Rotary Club of North Jackson

William "Billy" Neville, founder of the Rogue men's Store in Jackson spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its January 5, 2016 meeting. He discussed the founding of the Rogue, its early years, its business philosophy. He brought samples of early ads and early charge tickets. He (center) is shown with Rotarians Jim Walden (left) and Al Underwood (right) in the accompanying photo. We thank Billy for his very interesting presentation and his commitment to our City.

Captain Andrew Lake Speaks to Rotary Club of NOrth Jackson

Captain Andrew Lake of the Mississippi National Guard spoke to
the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its December 29, 2015, meet-
ing. Captain Lake is Special Victims' Counsel for the Southeast
Region of the United States. His job is to counsel and assist military
victims of sexual abuse. His is a new position, created in November
2015. Captain Lake discussed the Special Victims program of the
Military using  a slide show presentation. He (right) is shown with
club President Tom Parry following his presentation. We thank 
Captain Lake for his very interesting presentation and for his ser-
vice to the military personnel serving our country.
Judge Deniese Turner Lott Speaks to Rotary Club of North Jackson

The Hon. Deniese Turner Lott, an Administrative Law Judge with the Mississippi Workers Compensation Commission, spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its December 22, 2015 meeting. Judge Lott discussed the MS Workers Compensation systems, its reasons  for existing and how it functions . She is show below (left) with Club Member Virginia Carlton (right) and Club President Tom Parry following her presentation. We thank her for her very interesting presentation.

Clarion-Ledger Publisher Speaks to Rotary Club of North Jackson

Nathan "Nate" Edwards President of Mississippi Media and publisher of the Clarion Ledger in Jackson spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson at its December 15, 2015 meeting. Mr. Edwards discussed Mississippi Media and its impact, both print and digital, on the State of Mississippi. Mississippi Media is part of the Gannett Company and uses Gannett's extensive digital capabilities to expand its reach. Mr. Edwards is shown in the accompanying photo during his presentation. We thank him for his very interesting and informative presentation.
