Joey began his career with a 17-year stint at General Motors focusing on negotiations and Mergers and Acquisitions.Joey moved on from GM to spend the next 4 years working for the Mississippi Development Authority as the Chief Financial Officer. Successes included landing projects such as Toyota, PACCAR, SeverStal to the State of Mississippi, and operating a $5.6B budget.
Joey served 3 years as President and CEO for Schulz Xtruded Products. Duties included the construction and ramp-up of the $300m investment with 500 employees. Before moving to his current role he served as COO with the Golden Triangle Development LINK. Successes included landing projects such as Yokohama Tire and C-Spire.
In his current role the team at MCEDA has been able to win new projects and expansions such as Vertex Aerospace, Fastenal, Amazon, Clark Beverage, UPS, and most recently AWS.
AWS is the largest Economic Development Project in the History of Mississippi at $10 billion dollars and 1,000 tech jobs averaging a conservative $70k per year.
These projects total $17.5 billion dollars in investment, 5000 new jobs, and provide an additional $125 million dollars in Annual Revenue to local Budgets.
